About the event
As in past years, Rabbi Jack Shlachter of the Los Alamos Jewish Center, 2400 Canyon Road in Los Alamos, will be offering a pair of discussion sessions at the LAJC to help the community prepare for the upcoming Jewish High Holidays. The two sessions are freestanding, so please plan to come to one or both events. RSVPs are requested through the www.lajc.org website.
The first session, Come Blow Your Horn (to Welcome the Jewish New Year), will be held on Tuesday, August 25, at 7 PM and will focus on Rosh HaShanah. We’ll explore the logic of celebrating the new year at the start of the 7th month. We’ll also discuss the tradition to refrain from blowing the ram’s horn when the holiday falls on the Sabbath (as it does this year).
