About the event
Call for Minyan:Help make the minyan – and also provide an important Jewish worship experience for our congregation and upcoming b’nai mitzvot - our sons and daughters of the covenant. 9:30a.m. Torah Study, 10 a.m. Service (Potluck lunch after service.)
The Talmud, a huge compendium of teachings developed between 200 BCE and 500 CE, includes within it many disputes. These come about because Jewish tradition has always valued learning with others and expressing a wide variety of viewpoints in an effort to find important truths. Indeed, the Talmud (B. Taanit 7a) says that learning in pairs - what we call havruta - helps two students "sharpen one another." Please join us after our potluck lunch on November 15 at 1 PM as we experiment with havruta learning applied to texts from the Book of Exodus and elsewhere in a discussion of the Revelation at Mount Sinai.
