Havdalah: bidding farewell to the Sabbath

Writer: Los Alamos Jewish CenterLos Alamos Jewish Center

Updated: Jan 10

Join LAJC approximately monthly on Saturday evening for a light pot-luck "third meal of Shabbat" followed by havdalah and a program. Havdalah is a brief ceremony marking the end of the Sabbath and welcoming the new week. We usher out the Sabbath with spices, a braided/multi-wick candle and wine/grape juice.

Next Havdalah: TBD

ABOUT US

The Los Alamos Jewish Center (LAJC) is an unaffiliated, egalitarian congregation. Congregants come from a variety of Jewish backgrounds. We welcome interfaith families. LAJC is a mix of lay-led services in Hebrew and English, with rabbinic support from Rabbi Jack Shlachter. We use the Conservative Movement's Lev Shalem Shabbat prayerbook. We welcome your participation, and look forward to meeting you!
